“We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”- – Aldo Leopold
The Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group
Is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that works with communities to maximize self-sustaining salmon populations. In King and Eastern Kitsap Counties, we work cooperatively with private landowners, agencies, tribes and others to identify, design and implement projects that improve salmon habitat.
RFEG Program
The Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group is one of 14 Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups (RFEGs) in the state of Washington. In 1990, the Washington State Legislature established the RFEG Program to optimize citizen involvement and private donations to restore salmon and steelhead populations in Washington State. Each RFEG has an established geographic region based on watershed boundaries.
Our organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are in part supported by surcharges from Fishing License sales. However, we receive most of our funding through grant writing to private and governmental grant sources. Donations and volunteers from private donors and members are greatly appreciated and help keep Mid Sound operating. All donations are tax-deductible.
