Mid Sound hired Pilchuck Excavation to replace the undersized culvert that caused a velocity barrier to fish
with a new bigger culvert that allows the stream to function
naturally during all flow periods.

Now the Land Owners
along Cool Creek can watch the salmon migrate and spawn up
stream easier due to the culvert replacement.
This is going to allow more fish to travel up and
down stream year round.

This project was funded by a Family Forest Fish Passage
Program Grant. The Program
Partners Are Washington Department of Fish and
Wildlife which implements Project Evaluation and Ranking
, The Department of Natural Resources which does Program
Outreach and The Recreation and Conservation Office who
Administers the Grant.
