The Mid Puget
Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group

is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that works with communities to maximize self-sustaining salmon populations. In King and Eastern Kitsap Counties, we work cooperatively with private landowners, agencies, tribes and others to identify, design and implement projects that improve salmon habitat.

Koontz Dogfish Creek Tributary project was taken on by Mid Sound Fisheries this year, the project  will address a fish passage barrier on Dog Fish Creek in Kitsap County. This was a culvert replacement  project where Mid Sound applied for a grant through FFFPP ( Family Forest Fish Passage Program )to replace the undersized culvert that was a barrier with a new bigger culvert that would allow the stream channel to migrate naturally and the new culvert will allow more fish to travel up and down the stream.
