Mid Sound Fisheries is excited to be helping City of Auburn Parks and Recreation restore habitat along the lower Green River. With community support and hundreds of volunteers, more than 3000 native trees and shrubs will be planted to create critical shade and habitat along the river. Right now, the river can get too hot for salmon in the summer and improving shade is critical to keep the water cool. The focus will be on restoring habitat at Fenster Park, Isaac Evans Park, and Dykstra Park, controlling invasive species like Himalayan blackberry and planting native trees plants like Western red cedar and red flowering currant.
