SUMMARY:2/22/25 Restoration Volunteer Event @ Fenster Park in Auburn
DESCRIPTION:Join Mid Sound Fisheries\, the City of Auburn\, and your community members as we restore the shores of the Green-Duwamish River at Fenster Park! At this event we are going to be removing weeds from around young native plants that were planted last year. \n  \nSign up by following this link to Volunteer Match: https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp3887191.jsp \nThe event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site\, the partnering organizations\, why this work is important\, tool use\, and safety. We will provide work gloves\, all instructions\, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking. \nEveryone is welcome\, but anyone 16 or 17 years old attending without an adult needs to fill out and bring the attached Youth Waiver to the event. Anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Thank you! \nWhat to Bring: \n\nGardening gloves/work gloves if you have them\, we will provide them if you do not.\nClosed-toe shoes are required! (ex: sturdy sneakers\, rain boots\, hiking boots. No sandals\, heels\, or flats)\nLayers of clothing that can get dirty\nLong sleeves and thick leg coverings to protect against thorny plants (shorts or capris are not recommended)\nRain gear -OR- sunblock and a sun hat (be sure to check the weather)\nFull water bottle\nSnacks

DESCRIPTION:Click here to sign up!\nVolunteer with Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail to restore Chinook salmon habitat! \nWe will spend the day removing invasive species from the shoreline site and planting native trees and shrubs to establish a healthy riparian habitat. \nUpon signing up you will receive a confirmation email from VolunteerMatch. Mid Sound’s Stewardship Coordinator\, Molly\, will send a reminder email with event details and the youth wavier the Wednesday before the event. \nUpon signing up you will receive an email with information on how to access the site. \n**If you are under 18 and attending without a parent or guardian\, please also print and fill out the Youth Waiver Form attached to the Wednesday reminder email and bring it with you to the event!**
