SUMMARY:4th Friday Fishing for Answers
DESCRIPTION:Our monthly walk & talk will meet at the overflow parking lot for Point No Point\, on Point No Point Rd\, just E  of Hillview Lane. While County repair work on the North Beach continues\, we’ll walk along the road toward the lighthouse\, and down the marsh trail to view the project footprint. We’ll review where we are in the early Preliminary Design Phase (working toward 30%). If you have questions\, we’ll either answer them or collect and field them to someone in the position to respond. If you have observations to share\, we’ll document them\, and if you have concerns\, this is a good time to learn where along the design timeline your concerns might be addressed. \nIf you’re new to the project\, we can talk about the West Sound Nearshore Integration and Synthesis of Chinook Salmon Recovery Priorities that has listed the Point No Point Estuary Restoration project as the top priority project\, out of 333 restoration projects assessed\, to benefit Chinook salmon recovery. The project supports coastal resilience at the Puget Sound level\, the Kitsap County level\, and at the level of the neighborhoods surrounding and uphill of Point No Point Park. \nThe hope is that our twice monthly walks (see also 2nd Mondays Tide Talk) can provide a more thorough understanding of the project’s goals and limitations. Direct communication on site might ease some of the fear associated with the power of mother nature that landowners on this block know very well\, and take some of the power away from misinformation that can throw a lot of confusion into a longterm\, well-documented study. These outreach opportunities\, and the slides\, meeting notes\, and FAQs on our website will hopefully keep us grounded in our Design Timeline. We hope that you’ll feel welcome to join us to help determine which problems the project hopes to solve\, and which problems are really outside of the project scope. We look forward to learning from you and sharing your observations with the partners who will potentially be there down the line to help regulate changes that might come to this very special place. \nBring your camera to help document our work. \nPlease respect the neighbors by parking in designated overflow parking spaces only. \nWe look forward to seeing you at 9am!
