DESCRIPTION:Click here to sign up!\nVolunteer with Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail in Woodinville to restore Chinook\, Coho\, and Sockeye salmon habitat! \nThis will be a special planting event because we will be working with livestakes! We have over 1\,000 livestakes ready to get in the groud! Species include Stika Willow\, Red Osier Dogwood\, and Douglas Spirea. \nLivestakes are clippings taken from mature native plants\, usually 3 to 5 feet long. After harvesting\, clippings are steaked into the ground where they can grow into an entirely new plant. Not all plant species can be propagated using livestakes\, but this is a common planting technique for willows and other shoreline plants. \nMost of our event time will be dedicated to planting these livestakes\, and any remaining time will be spent clearing invasive Himalayan Blackberry from the river’s shoreline. \nUpon signing up you will receive a confirmation email from VolunteerMatch.
