SUMMARY:12/17/22 Planting Event @ Fenster Park!
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin Mid Sound Fisheries\, Green River Coalition\, the City of Auburn\, and your community members as we restore the shores of the Green-Duwamish River at Fenster Park! We are in the process of building a future forest along the Green River at Fenster Park. We have planted so many trees to build the overstory of the forest\, but a forest needs shrubs too! The shrubs we have in the PNW have beautiful flowers and berries that animals LOVE to feast on\, so adding them to the park ensures a healthy habitat for many types of animals\, including our beloved salmon! \nThe event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site\, the partnering organizations\, why this work is important\, tool use\, and safety. We will provide work gloves\, all instructions\, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking. \nPlease sign up by following this link to VolunteerMatch! \nEmail amy@midsoundfisheries.org if you have any questions. \nCovid-19 Safety Protocol: \n\nBefore arriving at the event please check your temperature. If it is above 100.4 degrees please stay home.\nPlease stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms such as cough\, sore throat\, loss of taste and/or smell\nMasks will be worn within six feet of each other\, otherwise they are optional (we will also have extra single-use masks if needed)\nWe will maintain physical distance throughout the day.\nWe will provide a hand washing and sanitation station on site.\nWe will provide water\, but please bring a water bottle so as to reduce our use of single-use plastics!\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nGardening gloves/work gloves if you have them\, we will provide them if you do not.\nClosed-toe shoes are required! (ex: sturdy sneakers\, rain boots\, hiking boots. No sandals\, heels\, or flats)\nLayers of clothing that can get dirty\nLong sleeves and thick leg coverings to protect against thorny plants (shorts or capris are not recommended)\nRain gear -OR- sunblock and a sun hat (be sure to check the weather)\nFull water bottle\nSnacks
