DESCRIPTION:Join Mid Sound Fisheries\, Green River Coalition\, the City of Auburn\, and your community members as we restore the shores of the Green-Duwamish River! We had such a successful planting season thanks to all of your help — now its time to make sure our new plants get the care they need to survive. We’ll be clearing blackberry from the areas around new plantings and prepping some sites for future planting! \nThe event will begin with a brief discussion that includes information about the site\, the partnering organizations\, why this work is important\, tool use\, and safety. We will provide work gloves\, all instructions\, and all tools. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event and allow extra time to find parking. \nPlease sign up directly with VolunteerMatch or by emailing amy@midsoundfisheries.org. SUMMARY:6/11/23 Sammamish River Kayak Tour!
DESCRIPTION:Take a salmon-eye view of the Sammamish River to learn more about orcas and the ways salmon use the river system to complete their life-cycle. Enjoy a morning of adventure\, exploration\, and fun kayaking along the Sammamish River in Bothell. Prior to setting off on a one-hour round trip tour\, we’ll share a little about the history of the river and ways it’s being protected and restored. \nKayaks are included in the cost and provided by WhatsSup. When registering please indicate if you would like a single or a double boat. Space will be limited and we appreciate your flexibility. We will meet at the Park at Bothell Landing near the playground. Participants must be 18 years or older or accompanied by an adult. Life jackets will be provided. No experience necessary. Presented in partnership with Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group and Sno-King Watershed Council. \nDress for the weather and bring sunscreen! \nNote – Basic kayak instruction will be provided by WhatsSup with participation at your own risk. DESCRIPTION:The Salmon Friendly Lakes Program seeks to inspire behavior change among lakeshore residents through education and outreach opportunities\, free technical assistance site visits\, and impact-reduction and restoration guidance. This program is also a part of the Lake Sammamish Artificial Light at Night Abatement efforts being led by King Conservation District\, which are intended to better understand\, and reduce the impacts of artificial light on salmon in Lake Sammamish. \nJoin us Saturday\, June 24m 2023 at Lake Sammamish Park from 10:00am – 12:30pm.
