SUMMARY:11/08/2025 Tree Planting and Habitat Restoration at Burns Creek
DESCRIPTION:Join Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group for a day of Chinook salmon habitat restoration! We will spend the day removing invasive plants and planting native trees and shrubs on a King County-owned site on Burns Creek\, a tributary to the Green River which hosts a high number of juvenile Chinook salmon as they grow and prepare to begin their lives in the ocean. \nVolunteers should expect to be primarily digging blackberry roots at this event\, but everyone will have the opportunity to get a few native plants in the ground! We will provide instructions\, a safety talk\, work gloves\, and all tools\, as well as snacks\, water\, and electrolytes. Please plan to arrive on time for the start of the event as we will be shuttling from our meeting location at Metzler Park to the work site. \nEveryone is welcome\, but anyone under 18 years old attending without an adult needs to fill out a Youth Waiver to the event (This will be linked in the confirmation email after you apply to the event). Anyone under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Thank you! \nWhat to Bring: \n\nClosed-toe shoes are required! (ex: sturdy sneakers\, rain boots\, hiking boots. No sandals\, heels\, or flats)\nLong pants\, and layers of clothing that can get dirty\nRain gear (Or sun protection! Be sure to check the weather)\nFull water bottle and snacks\n\nHow to Apply: \nLet us know you’re coming by filling out a volunteer application here. \nPlease contact nicholas@midsoundfisheries.org with any questions

SUMMARY:11/15/2025 Tree Planting Event on Sammamish River\, Woodinville
DESCRIPTION:Click here to sign up!\nJoin Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail to restore salmon habitat. \nWe will spend the event time digging up the roots of invasive species currently growing on the riverbank\, and then planting native trees and shrubs in the spaces we clear. We will add blue grow-tubes to all plants to protect them from deer grazing and add mulch rings to insulate their roots for the upcoming cold season. \nUpon signing up you will receive a confirmation email. On November 12th\, the Wednesday before the event\, Molly\, the Mid Sound Fisheries staff member leading your event\, will send a reminder email with event logistics on site access\, what to pack\, and all other necessary information. \nFor participants under 18: if you plan to volunteer without your parent/ guardian and this is your first time volunteering with Mid Sound Fisheries\, please print and fill out the King County Parks Youth Waiver Form attached to Molly’s Wednesday email and bring it with you to the event!
