Volunteer

Many of Mid Sound’s volunteer opportunities are built around current projects and include:

  • Smolt Trap – Designing & building a two way smolt trap. Monitoring it 2x a day April – June ( we will need multiple volunteers for this, and hopefully a volunteer to run/coordinate the other volunteers)
  • Web Site – Our website is not up to par and current staff are limited in their technical knowledge. We need someone to help get our site to look and function better, and update our site and Facebook page with new info.
  • Office Organization – As we re-vamp our office, there is a lot of filing and organizational needs.
  • Weeding & flagging – Current sites (one particularly in Auburn) need to have the canary grass weed wacked down and the rest of the native vegetation flagged.
  • Writers – Grants and Newsletters – Any help with grants is great. Writing a newsletter and sending it to our members and supporters would also be wonderful!
  • Tabling and outreach – Mid Sound often has a table at events and derbies and needs volunteers to staff the tables and talk with the public about the importance of salmon habitat and our organizations role.
  • Fish Fling!

Some Of Our Volunteer Projects:

Fish Fling

We fling spawned salmon carcasses back into the local watershed to add nutrients back into the ecosystem for all the happy (and even unhappy) little creatures! We get bloody, we get dirty, and we have fun. Sound enjoyable? Volunteer!!!

Arbor day volunteer planting with Girl Scout Troop 41934 and the Mid Sound Team! We had a lot of fun and got very muddy (some more than others)!
